Trading Patiently — Custom Discord Bot & Automation

Trading Patiently was using more than ten Discord bots. I replaced them with one custom bot for onboarding, moderation, support tickets and partner promotions.

The problem

What needed to change

More than ten bots were handling separate parts of the server. New Whop customers also needed personal onboarding without staff creating channels and repeating the same instructions by hand.

What I built

What the system does

  • Replaced the 10+ bot setup with one custom Discord bot.
  • Connected Whop to Discord so each new customer gets a private channel and a three-step onboarding flow.
  • Built moderation tools and a ticket system with controls for staff to claim, close, reopen and delete tickets.
  • Automated prop-firm promotions: the bot finds new discounts, replaces the referral code and publishes each offer in Trading Patiently’s format.

Key decisions

Why it works this way

  • Kept all member-facing features under one bot and one brand.
  • Used private onboarding channels so each customer gets the right instructions without posting the onboarding steps in public channels.
  • Kept onboarding to three steps with one obvious action at each stage.
  • Built the features as separate modules so new tools can be added later.

Workflow

From start to finish

  1. 01Whop purchase
  2. 02Private channel
  3. 03Guided onboarding
  4. 04Community access

The result

What changed

The same bot now runs onboarding, moderation, tickets and partner promotions for a community of 3,500+ members. It runs 20+ automated workflows, has recorded 99.9% uptime over two years and processes thousands of messages each day on average.

Reflection

Looking back

This isn’t a fixed bot package. These features were built because this community needed them; a different server would get a different setup.
